Visiting Perkins Road Notary
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is needed for general notary services. Walk in during business hours with your document and photo ID.
Appointments are required for will signings and some estate-planning services.
How long will my visit take?
Most walk-in visits take 10 minutes or less. Transactions involving document preparation, vehicle registration, multiple signers, or more complicated paperwork may take longer.
What should I bring?
For most notarizations, bring:
The document you need notarized
A valid government-issued photo ID or LA Wallet
Everyone whose signature must be notarized
Any supporting documents related to the transaction
Vehicle and property transactions may require additional documents.
What forms of identification do you accept?
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state identification card, passport, or military ID. We also accept a Louisiana digital driver’s license through the LA Wallet app.
Should I sign my document before I arrive?
Wait to sign until you are in front of the notary. This allows us to witness the signature and complete the notarization without unnecessary delays.
Can you notarize someone’s signature if that person is not present?
No. Every person whose signature is being notarized must personally appear before the notary with valid photo identification.
If several people need to sign, must everyone come together?
Not always. Signers can often visit separately, but some documents require everyone to sign together or in the presence of the same witnesses. Call us if you are unsure.
Are you open during lunch?
Yes. We remain open during lunch and have multiple notaries available throughout the business day.
What are your hours?
We are open:
Monday–Thursday: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

Do you provide witnesses?
Yes. We have witnesses available when your document requires them, so you generally do not need to bring your own.
Can you print my document?
Yes. Email the document to us when you arrive, and we can print it for you.
Can you prepare a document for me?
Yes. We prepare many common Louisiana documents, including affidavits, bills of sale, acts of donation, minor travel consent forms, custody mandates, automobile mandates, powers of attorney, and straightforward wills.

Can you explain my document to me?
We can explain the notarization and signing process, but a notary cannot provide legal advice about your rights, obligations, or whether a document is the best choice for your situation.
If you need legal advice, we can refer you to an appropriate attorney.
Does notarization make a document legally valid?
Notarization verifies the signer’s identity and completes the required notarial certificate. It does not guarantee that every provision in a document is legally sufficient or appropriate for the signer’s situation.
Can you notarize a document written in another language?
We can often notarize a signature on a document written in another language if the signer understands the document and can communicate directly with the notary.

Vehicle Titles and Registrations
Can you transfer a vehicle title?
Yes. We help with many Louisiana car, truck, trailer, and boat title transfers, including sales and donations.
Bring the title, valid photo identification, proof of insurance for the vehicle being transferred, and any supporting transaction documents.
Can you prepare a bill of sale or Act of Donation?
Yes. We prepare Louisiana bills of sale and Acts of Donation for qualifying vehicle transactions.
Do the buyer and seller have to come together?
Not always. Depending on the title and transaction, the parties may be able to have their signatures notarized separately. Call us before your visit if the buyer or seller cannot appear at the same time.
Can you register the vehicle and issue a temporary plate?
We can register many qualifying vehicle transfers and provide a temporary license plate as part of the transaction.
Can you renew my driver’s license or remove an OMV flag?
No. We are not a full-service Public Tag Agent or Office of Motor Vehicles location. Driver’s-license services and OMV flags must be handled through a Public Tag Agent or the OMV.

Can you help with a Louisiana will?
Yes. We offer a separate guided process for straightforward Louisiana wills. Will signings require an appointment and generally take 15 to 30 minutes.

Can you prepare a power of attorney?
Yes. We prepare Louisiana General Durable Mandates and Health Care Mandates—commonly called powers of attorney in other states.
Is a Health Care Mandate the same as a living will?
No. A Health Care Mandate appoints someone to make healthcare decisions for you. A Louisiana living will records your wishes concerning life-sustaining procedures. They serve different purposes.

When should I speak with an attorney?

Can you notarize real estate documents?
Yes. Bring closing documents, property-transfer documents, Acts of Cash Sale, Acts of Donation, or other paperwork provided by your bank, title company, or attorney.
Can you prepare documents for a private property transfer?
We can assist with certain Louisiana private sales and donations. Call before visiting so we can identify the information and property description needed.
Can you notarize business documents?
Yes. We regularly notarize contracts, operating agreements, corporate resolutions, contractor forms, lien releases, affidavits, government filings, and other business paperwork.
Can you help with succession documents?
We can notarize succession and probate documents prepared by your attorney. If you need to open a succession or receive legal advice, we can refer you to a Louisiana succession attorney.

We do not offer individual mobile notary service at this time.
